Today I helped teach a a group of kids k-4, about abstract art. First we took them to the museum to show them the difference between realism and abstract art. And then we went to the STUDIO to create art. They seemed to have fun! I had fun ! And they created some really cool artwork.
I should have clarified. They were instructed to draw vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines. Then some shapes and a curvy line. They did all this using a black sharpie. Then they colored!

It looks like the kids art was heavily influenced by what they saw in the museum. Or those kids at that table all copied off each other ha!
ReplyDeletenext time... I would say to give them a VERBAL description of what abstract art is. Have them do the art... THEN take them to the exhibit.
